Göppingen signs Danish national player

The Danish national player of the Swedish champion IFK Kristianstad, Tim Sørensen, joins the German Bundesliga-club Frisch Auf! Göppingen from next season.

The German Bundesliga-club Frisch Auf! Göppingen has announced the second new signing for the upcoming season. After Nemanja Zelenovic (read more here), the German club has presented the Danish right wing Tim Sørensen.

The 25-year-old right wing, who is a part of the Danish initial squad for the European Championship in January, comes from the Swedish champion IFK Kristianstad and has signed a two-year contract.

The sports director of Frisch Auf! Göppingen Christian Schöne states the following in a press release from the German club: "I am glad that we could sign up with Tim Sørensen, who isa very ambitious player, who despite his young age already has the appropriate international experience. Tim has his strengths in the counter attacks and convinces by a good effectiveness in the attack."

Tim Sørensen: "I'm very happy with my two years in Kristianstad, but now I'm looking forward to the next step in my career at Frisch Auf! Göppingen. In the last two seasons, I have developed very well and now feel ready to prove myself in the Bundesliga. The move to Göppingen next summer feels good and I can not wait to play in front of the Göppingen home crowd in Hölle Süd."

Tim Sørensen has previously also played for Danish clubs as Skanderborg Håndbold and Skive fH. In 2016 he left Skanderborg Håndbold to join the Swedish champion IFK Kristianstad. He has also been a part of the Danish youth national team.

In this season he has so far made 39 goals in Champions League.

Frisch Auf! Göppingen has in advanse two Danish players on the squad, Allan Damgaard and Jacob Bagersted.

The German top club has due to injuries 3 right wings in the squad this season. While the 22-year-old German Marco Renschler has a contract to the summer of 2019, the 27-year-old Swedish right wing Anton Halén and 28-year-old Slovakian right wing Tomas Urban have contracts which expire after this season.

Tim Sørensen is the 2nd Danish right wing who joins a German Bundesliga team next season. Also Patrick Wiesmach leaves Aalborg Håndbold to join DHfK Leipzig (read more here).
