Update: Solberg Swedish national coach

Update: The Swedish Handball Federation has in a press release confirmed that the Norwegian coach Glenn Solberg replaces the current head coach of the national team, Kristján Andrésson, after the Euros 2020. Glenn Solberg has signed a contract valid until after the Olympics 2024 in Paris.

The Norwegian website NRK.no learns that Glenn Solberg becomes Swedish national coach.

NRK reports, that the Norwegian handball legend Glenn Solberg replaces the Iceland coach Kristján Andrésson as head coach of the Swedish national team after the Euros 2020.

The Norwegian coach confirms to NRK that he is in talks with the Swedish Handball Federation but he will not confirm that everything is clarified yet.

Secretary General of the Swedish Handball Federation, Robert Wedberg, will also not give a final confirmation, but says that Solberg is one of the few candidates.

The current head coach of the Swedish national team, Kristján Andrésson, has been the coach since 2016. He becomes head coach of Rhein-Neckar Löwen after this season.

Glenn Solberg has since 2015 been the head coach of the top club of the Norwegian 2nd league, St. Hallvard, but his contract expires after this season.

The 47-year-old Norwegian has previously been assistant coach of the Norwegian national team. As a player he both played in FC Barcelona, HSG Nordhorn and SG Flensburg-Handewitt.
