The Swedish left wing of the German Bundesliga club GWD Minden, Charlie Sjöstrand, is out for half a year!

Press release from GWD Minden:

The injury of Charlie Sjöstrand, which he had already suffered before the match against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen in training, is heavier than initially expected. An MRI examination has revealed this week a cartilage damage in the knee.

An operation is therefore indispensable for the Swedish left wing. The surgery will be carried out on Tuesday by the joint specialist Dr. Wolfgang Zinser in Dinslaken. In this case the healthy cartilage is first removed from an unstressed part of the knee for cultivation. In a further procedure, this cartilage can then be inserted six weeks later at the defective site. Overall, a six-month downtime is expected.
