FC Barcelona signs the Icelandic super star Aron Palmarsson.

Press release from Barca:

The Icelandic centre back, 27 years old and considered one of the best players in the world, arrives from Hungarian club Veszprém and will be a blaugrana for the next four seasons.

FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with MKB Vezprém for the incorporation of the player Aron Pálmarsson who is 27 years of age and 1.93m tall.
The Icelandic centre back joins FC Barcelona Lassa for the next four seasons, until the summer of 2021.

Quality signing

Palmarsson comes to Barça Lassa to reinforce the first line of Xavi Pascual’s team. The centre back is considered one of the best players in the world in his position and he comes to the team to help Raúl Entrerríos in that particular area of the court.
The Icelander began his career at his home town club of FH Hafnarfjordur before moving to THW Kiel at the age of 19. With the German club in his six seasons he won two Champions Leagues and five league titles amongst other honours. In the summer of 2015 he signed for Hungarian side Veszprém where he played the last two seasons under Catalan coach Xavi Sabaté, becoming one of the top names in European handball.
The Icelandic international is a technically gifted player, an elegant finished and a leader out on the court. His physical presence allows him to be comfortable all over the court. With Lasse Andersson out with a long term injury, Pálmarsson will bolster the first line in Xavi Pascual’s Barça Lassa team starting from the month of November.

The signing of Aron Palmarsson is one of the biggest in the history of handball. See the top transfers list of all time here.
