The talented Danish right wing Johan Hansen extends his contract with the Danish champions and Champions League participants Bjerringbro-Silkeborg to the summer of 2021.

Press release from Bjerringbro-Silkeborg:

Bjerringbro-Silkeborg has extended the contract with another of the players, who last season helped to secure the Central Jutland club the Danish Championship. The 22 year-old right wing Johan Hansen has evolved to be one of the best at the position, and he has chosen to continue with the Danish champions until 2021.

"I am very happy to be in Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and I feel this is the perfect match for me. I get plenty of playing time in a top team in Denmark, and I get to play international handball. As a young player you can not ask for much more. I think that Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in the coming years are going to be in the top of Danish handball," says Johan Hansen, who believes that Bjerringbro-Silkeborg is the right place for his development in the coming years.

"Personally, I would like to be more stable in my game. I get a lot of playing minutes this season, both in Denmark and in the VELUX EHF Champions League, and that means very much. I would like to be more stable and play 60 minutes at a high level every time."

The right wing was originally born in the Faroe Islands but moved at a young age to Denmark to play handball. About a year ago he got debute in the Danish national team, and last week he was with the Danish development team in Poland. Johan Hansen hopes in the coming years to achieve more matches for the A-national team.

"It's a huge dream to be allowed to play in the national team again, and choosing Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and play for a Danish top team is a step in that direction. It is the dream to participate in a championship at a time, and I hope I can do well for Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in the coming seasons and play me closer to the national team," says the winger.

Johan Hansen came to Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in 2015 after he had established himself in the Danish league for Skanderborg Håndbold. In his first season in Bjerringbro-Silkeborg he was already one of the profiles on the team that won the Danish Championship gold, and this season he has already played great in both the domestic league and not least in the VELUX EHF Champions League, where among other things he has been selected for the team of the round. Bjerringbro-Silkeborg coach Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen praises the wings development and is pleased that he will remain with the Danish champions to 2021.

"Johan Hansen has been through a great development in Skanderborg, and the development he has continued here in Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Johan is now playing on an international level, and we have both seen it in the decisive matches last season and in the VELUX EHF Champions League this season."

"Johan already at an early age was a great talent and he has the prerequisites to become really good. He sees every day as an opportunity to improve, and currently he develops special on the technical, tactical and physical parameters. Johan is a very well-liked player who always show up with great optimism and confidence in our team and capabilities," praises Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen.
